Zaporozhye State Medical University (a legal successor of Zaporozhye Medical Institute under the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №820 of 12.12.1994) is a self-governing, modern, multiprofile higher educational institution accredited in compliance with the

decision of State Certification Commission.

There are 562 lecturers at the University in 2011: about 100 Doctors of Sciences and about 370 Candidates of Sciences. 66 Professors and 152 Associate Professors work at the University; one Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 37 members of International Academies of Sciences and International Scientific Societies, 7 Honorary Science and Engineering Workers of Ukraine, 1 Honorary worker of Higher School of Ukraine, 3 State Prize Winners, 5 Prize Winners of the Ukrainian Academy of Medical Sciences, 1 Prize Winner of National Academy of Sciences and Medical Academy of Sciences named after V.P. Komisarenko, 1 Prize Winner of the President of Ukraine, 2 Prize Winner of the Cabinet of Ministry of Ukraine, 3 Honorary Physicians of Ukraine are among them.

In November, 2011, Rector of Zaporozhye State Medical University received the managing director of the firm “NЕО (NIMSTL)”, the Assistant of Rector of ZSMU for Indian Students Dr. Burra Divya Sunitha Raj who came to Zaporozhye with the group of new Indian students. In the course of the meeting the questions of cooperation concerning the training and welfare of Indian citizens were discussed. The firm Neo has been working with ZSMU since 2004 and it has the exclusive right to recruit students from the southern states of India for study at our University. The students of this firm always show good progress. The evidence of this is that more than 80% of them passed the Licensed Examination in MCI in 2011.
